Please remember as a rural area the roads in Kintyre are frequently populated by slow moving farm vehicles, cyclists, walkers and animals. Roads are often single track with passing places.
110 miles west of Glasgow on the A83. It takes about 3.5 – 4hrs. Follow signs for Campbeltown, then Carradale. There are two ways to get to Ifferdale Farm
This is about 20 minutes quicker than route 2 but is a single track road so extra care is needed. It offers some great views of the Kintyre countryside and on a clear day great views of the isle of Arran.
Turn off the A83 six miles past Tarbert and take the Skipness Road B8001 following signs for Carradale. We are 5 miles south of Carradale. As you descend Saddell school house brae the farm can be reached 1.5 miles along the unmetalled road on your right.
Continue past Tarbert down the A83 to Campbeltown, then take the Askomil road B842 through Peninver village and onto Saddell 10 miles north of Campbeltown. Pass by Saddell village and about 500 mts on your left is the unmetalled road to the farm.
A frequent bus service is available from Buchanan bus station in Glasgow to Campbeltown. West Coast Motors runs a bus service between Campbeltown and Carradale, which on request can drop you off at the start of the unmetalled road to the farm.
Machrihanish Airport is approximately 6 miles from Campbeltown and has a regular flight connection with Glasgow International Airport. Private charter flights are also welcome.
